Trapezoid, Rosewood Door Harp by Woodsong
This Trapezoid-shaped door harp, which comes with four strings, and is designed in clean simple lines, will leave an impression on your visitors. The door harp consists of a hollow, wooden sound box, strung with metal strings, which are tuned to a chord. It is attached to the inside of the front door, and when the door is opened or closed, the wooden balls bounce on the strings, creating a gentle, harmonious sound. The door harp's welcoming chimes will fill your home with good vibrations.
Woodsong door harps come individually boxed with a screw for mounting (good for both wooden and metal doors). The door harps are individually handcrafted and fine-finished, to bring out the grain of the wood. Since they are individually crafted, no two are exactly alike.
Door harps are Old World instruments, which apparently originated in Scandinavia. It has been used in Northern European countries for centuries to welcome guests and bring good luck.
Note: All Woodsong door harps have the Woodsong logo on the back, and are personally signed by Pete Isacowitz, guaranteeing our usual high quality.
The Artist: WOODSONG by Pete Isacowitz - a workshop located in the village of Rosh Pina, near the Sea of Galilee in Israel. It is where Pete is fulfilling his lifelong dream of having a workshop, where he makes and sells the musical instruments that he builds - Harps, and a wide range of door harps, didgeridoos, marimbas, xylophones, "musical sculptures" and musical tables.
Pete grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. The sounds and rhythms of Africa, so much a part of his surroundings, have been a strong influence in his life and work. He has played the guitar and harmonica since he was a kid, and has always been drawn to, and fascinated by music and musical instruments of all kinds.
